3D
Scanning and Modeling In One Machine
The revolutionary MDX-15 is a
powerful, easy-to-use, all-in-one desktop design tool. Equipped with
both 3D scanning and milling functions, it is ideal for a variety of
business, education and hobby applications.
Affordable Desktop 3D Scanner
& CNC Mill
The revolutionary uniqueness of
the MDX-15 is its versatility. Attaching the Roland Active
Piezo Scanner (RAPS) to the machine transforms it into a 3D
scanner for scanning 3D objects and creating 3D data.
Exchanging the spindle unit for the sensor turns the machine
into a fully-featured CNC mill capable of cutting jeweler’s
wax, modeling clay, resins, chemical wood, acrylic, and light
metals such as brass and aluminum.
Compared to previous Roland scanning and milling machines, the
MDX-15 is both a faster and more powerful device due to its
larger work area, upgraded command language, increased
operation speeds, stronger construction, and other
enhancements.

The
MDX-15 scans a wide range of objects, including soft objects
like clay and fruit or even flowers and glass that
conventional scanners find difficult. |

Roland’s
patented RAPS technology allows the MDX-15 to scan with an
accuracy of up to .002”. |

The
MDX-15 ‘s easy-to-use software includes 3D Engrave which
allows characters to be engraved on a complex curve. |

Dr.
PICZA scanning software features control functions such as
scan pitch and area settings, plus numerous editing functions
including a handy convex/concave inversion function for making
molds, a mirror function for creating symmetric data, a tilt
adujustment, curve smoothing and a function for adjusting the
height of surfaces. |

Easy-to Use
Software
The MDX-15 comes
bundled with a full suite of easy-to-use software, including
Dr. PICZA, MODELA Player, and Dr. 3D Engrave, and is
compatible with most major 3D programs VirtualMODELA enables
simulation of finished shapes and an estimate of the
processing time. A driver than runs on Windows 95/98/NT4.0 is
provided as standard.
Applications
Applications
include model and jewelry making, molds, rapid prototyping,
package design and engraving. The MDX-15 scans objects at 4 to
15 mm per second with a resolution of up to 0.002”. The
working area is 5.9"W(150 mm) x 3.94"D(100 mm) x
2.36"H(60 mm). Due to the precision of its RAPS
technology, MDX scans a wide range of objects, including soft
objects like clay and fruit or even flowers that conventional
contact scanners find difficult. The MDX can even scan glass
– an impossibility with optical scanners, because their
light beams pass through the glass.
Safety
A transparent
enclosure keeps the cutting tool away from the user and
contains waste material while providing full visibility of the
work in progress.
